Thanksgiving and Christmas are the most glorious festive food days of the year. Dressing! And pie! Whipped Cream! Oh, YEAH! Another helping won’t hurt! Really? Sure, that one more little helping is between you and your maker, but do you want to see him now or later? Do you want to go with or without the cranberry sauce?
This really isn’t a joke. It is your life. I know, we have all winter to be back on the diet so we can wear the new spring fashions. Yeah. Spring fashions? Really? Take a deep breath and think for one minute on why you diet. You want to look good. You want to feel good. You want to meet someone, or go somewhere. You want a different life style. Or maybe you just want to live a little longer. A few years ago they said the average American was overweight. Now they say about 35 % of the population is obese. Obese. That’s a big life style change. If you are on a diet, then you are on a diet. Don’t be that silly person that says you can go off for today, or tomorrow and back on the next day. Think about what happens at Thanksgiving dinner. Don’t be that silly person that says that it won’t matter because the diet doesn’t work anyway because that’s why they don’t work!!! Your diet has to become your lifestyle. Look on the TV. You see the people that actually went on a diet and created a whole new lifestyle for themselves.
Life style. These are two simple words, but when put together, they mean a whole lot more. I don’t need to say it, but if you’re overweight and don’t change the way you eat, life may be good and probably short. If you don’t mind the jokes and snickers, if you don’t mind the rudeness we get when we are overweight, then that’s okay, stay that way. Are you aware that every ten pounds of weight you carry increases pressure on your knees by forty pounds? But that’s okay, because it’s your body and your knees. If you find the craving for food to be too much, then eat. Taste, savor, enjoy. Just don’t consume. Recently I offered a really exquisite chocolate to a lady that has gone from 280 down to 140. She bit off half of it, delighted in the flavor, cherished the taste, and discarded the rest. She has changed her life from the person that would just eat and eat and eat to the person that tastes and cherishes the flavor, but doesn’t consume.
Style- How about clothes that don’t have an X in the size? Would that be great? Well, if that’s what you want, if you’re tired of wearing potato sacks, then stay away from the potatoes. Completely. I know, lots of nutrients in the skin, so peel them and eat the skins but throw the rest away. Sports car or big sedan? Sports cars are like shoes. You have to be able to get into them to wear them. A big sedan is comfortable? C’mon! We all know you need the room to get in and out. Who are we kidding? You diet for your own reasons, but you need to stick to it. Everyday. Your style has to be the person you want to be, not who you’ve stuck yourself with. Back to life style. I tend to go off every once in a while. Lifestyle is when thin people invite you for dinner. Life style is knowing that there won’t be an extra turkey because you are coming, and you don’t hear “We cook extra because we like leftovers.” Life style is the beach, parasailing, volleyball, and stuff like that.
As I see it lifestyle is an all-together thing. The Thanksgiving dinner? Friends, family, and Thanksgiving. That’s what Thankgiving is for, not for an eating frenzy. Your family andd friends gather to celebrate life, and that’s what is important, not how much you can eat in one sitting. My friend that lost 140 pounds didn’t just skip a meal now and then. She changed her life. To her, it doesn’t matter about a diet. She eats right, exercises a little, and is a thin person. She no longer binges on food. She takes the holidays for social gatherings and warmth and camaraderie, not as an opportunity to eat until she can’t stand up, or drink until she can’t walk.
Losing the weight has to be your choice, but what a great choice it is. Set goals and grow into those goals, not the next dress size. Become a hero to yourself.

Listen, I know where you’re coming from, because I fought with weight loss for years. You wouldn’t have come here if it didn’t bother you as well. People laughed at me, joked about me, and embarrassed me. They made me cry. While I suffered, they were going around shopping in the petite section, wearing great clothes, and driving tiny little sports cars. They bump into you in aisles, and the worst is going into a nice restaurant.
Your answer is here! You know what you need. You need a solution. You need to get out of the rut, and get away from the yo-yo. You’ll know it when you find it. You look and look and look. You try, but it doesn’t work. It’s so hard. There has to be an easy diet. It seems like no diet, low fat, low carb or whatever food management system is going to save you. But you have hope. We have to have hope. You’ll try again.
Count calories? Experts say counting is the true way to lose weight because 3500 Calories is one pound of fat. I’ve counted, and weighed my food, and tallied my points. I’ve increased my MUFAs and gained weight. How about the Hoodia pills? What the heck is coming next, an Oprah Diet? Oh, yeah, Oprah now has one, and Atkins, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystems, and Weight Watchers and the next and the next. Even Jarrod from the Subway ads has a diet. And you say, “Yeah, but a diet? UGH!” Low carb, Key West, grapefruit, low calorie diet food? Yuck! What happened to FLAVOR? A nice chocolate milkshake might be my friend, but a diet? No. Not my friend.
So yes, I have felt your pain. I have been the joke. I have been humiliated more times than I can count. AND I HATED IT! I made the commitment to myself to put an end to it. I have faced and solved the very same problem that you are having!!! After, I don’t know, hundreds of diets, I found about a fast weight loss program that I have been able to work with….. Finally!!
